Very very informative employees. We felt kinda weird being one of THOSE customers who needs grain free, chicken free, USA made food. They took that in stride and offered us many options. Our dog has allergies and they helped us try new food types.
Every time I walk into this store I feel like I'm walking into the home of a friend or family member. They are not only welcoming but there to help you. The employees go out of their way to help guide you towards making your fur baby the best fur baby he/she can be, from food to toys. I seriously want to live here! Plus, they always have a cat from Angels of Hope that needs to be rescued, what a great way to get those animals seen!!
Staff is always very friendly and responsive, the store is clean and they have a great selection of higher end pet supplies. No complaints, great place to go if you don't like standard grocery store brands for your pets.
I've been using Chuck and Dons for pet food for years as my cats require food I can't find anywhere else. It's always been great except the last time I was there (which will literally be the last time I go there). I walked in the front door to see a regular customer (judging by the interaction with the staff) with a dog on it's leash, but no one was holding the leash. As soon as I saw this I decided to skirt around displays to the cat food area as I would prefer not to have some random dog jumping on my clothes. Success until I go to the register to pay. Sure enough, dog approaches me and puts it's front paws on my clothing. Not only was it raining out on this particular day (so the dogs feet were dirty), but in my head I'm thinking, "what if this thing were to bite me?" I was shocked and appalled. I left and later called to express my concern. Manager "on-duty" didn't seem to care in the least. My question is, just because I come into a pet food store, it's immediately assumed I like dogs? Can I walk in there with a pet alligator and let that run amok even though it's got a leash on it? Ridiculous. I made it clear had that dog bit me there would be a lawsuit coming, strictly from the audacity to let someone do that in their store. It blew my mind. Chuck and Dons has a long way to go in the customer service department. One day, a similar situation will happen but the dog will bite someone, they will be sued, and probably not be called Chuck and Dons after that. I spoke to the manager "on-duty" and someone from corporate. I was not satisfied with their response, and will never go back again.
Ignore Pawnit's review she is obviously certifiably insane. Chuck and Don's rocks if you don't like dogs maybe tell the person before they let their dog jump on you and stop being such an offended twit. Ain't nobody got time for people who are offended by everything. And I hope next time you are there someone does have an alligator because who are you to judge what people can and can't have as pets. Anyways, Chuck and Don's is the best place to go if you want to support a local Minnesota business with knowledgeable staff who know what they are talking about as well as passionate about the products they sell. Come one come all. Except Pawnitt, there is a Petco across the street you can complain at.
